Who I Am

Hi, I’m Jane.

I’m an undergraduate student at Cornell University majoring in computer science, interested in careers related to software and tech.

I've developed software pertaining to natural language processing, bioinformatics, and deep learning, particularly on the back-end and algorithms side. Scroll down for a more in-depth version of my portfolio.

Apart from CS, I like chillstep, hiking, and good food. I love exploring new places; I've lived in Shanghai, the south, and now the northeast. My post-graduation dream is the Bay Area, and I'm excited to spend this summer there and see how I like it :)

Also, I really enjoy taking pictures! Ever since I got my first camera at age 10, I've been trying to get the best shots of nature and the outdoors. You can view the photo blog I'm working on here, dedicated to capturing and preserving the wonders of the earth.

Engineering Practicum Intern | May 2019 - Present

This summer, I am working for the Resource Insights team in San Francisco! I am currently developing the backend integration for an internal application that uses a cascade algorithm to analyze changes in Google's infrastructure cost metrics over time.

Deep Learning Engineer | Feb 2018 - Present

With my project team, I use ML and NLP to help humans process large amounts of information. I'm currently working on a project to summarize large corpuses of Amazon reviews. Previously, I worked on the generation, optimization, and compression of knowledge graphs.

Battelle Memorial Institute

Software Engineering Intern | May 2018 - Aug 2018

At my summer internship, I developed intelligent software to screen DNA sequences for threats. The project combined software engineering, machine learning, and bioinformatics to develop a sophisticated prediction algorithm and a user-friendly platform.

Cornell University

Peer Advisor | Jun 2018 - Present

As a peer advisor, my role is to guide first-year students through their transition into college. I lead weekly seminars of 20 students, facilitate student-faculty interaction, and prepare presentations about academics, extracurriculars, and university resources.

NATE: Nonhuman Abstract Tech Expert Apr 2019

OCaml chatbot trained to answer CS-related questions using NLP/IR algorithms and corpus of Wikipedia articles. Can also autocorrect user input and provide topic suggestions.
